I remember putting this book on my to read list and thinking this will be a great "fluff" book. So when my reading pal picked it for me to read, I was happy to read a "fluff" piece in between some of the more meaty books on my to read list. Boy was I wrong. The only thing "fluffy about this book was it's title. This book was full of many front burner topics like divorce, spousal abuse, teenage pregnacy, adultery, cancer, adoption, and homosexuality. The foundation of this story is based on the lives of five very different women who come together through a love of reading. At first glance it would have the feeling of Desperate Housewife's with library cards but these women have much more substance than the women of Wisteria Lane.
