The Death of Bees: A Novel

The Death of Bees - Lisa O'Donnell Finished....Thank God!!! Instead of The Death of Bees, this book should have been call The Death of Me. The only thing that kept me reading was my curiosity to find the point of this story. I was so intrigued by the opeining sentences of this book "Today is Christmas Eve. Today is my birthday. Today I am fifteen. Today I buried my parents in the backyard. Neither of them were beloved." Those sentences turned out to be the best part of story. After reading the word f**k 114 times(yes I went back and counted)it makes me wonder if there ever was a point to the story. Don't get me wrong this book had it all...drinking, drugs, drug dealing, teen sex, incest, abuse, pedofiles, murder, suicide, and even some religion. It made it hard to feel compassion for anyone in this book. Next time I suggest the author just pick one subject.
